Temuco became the commune with the most active cases in Chile, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health issued this Saturday afternoon.

The patients capable of infecting others reached 455 in the capital of La Araucanía and moved to Puerto Montt, a city that this time scored 429.

Punta Arenas in the last weeks has reported a decrease in its cases and was in third place with 357.

Further back are Arica (269), Antofagasta (242), Puente Alto (216) and Iquique (213).

Deaths

The figures of active cases were accompanied by the Death Report presented on Saturday by the Minsal.

According to the document, 19,070 people have lost their lives since the beginning of the pandemic due to the virus.

Of these, 14,207 are deaths confirmed via PCR and 4,863 cases classified as suspects.

According to the data provided, covid-19 is the leading cause of death in the country, according to the frequency of deaths (see image).

Further back are ischemic heart diseases (6,331), cerebrovascular diseases (6,139) and hypertensive diseases (5,298).
