15 new cases and 4 deceased people of Covid-19 are reported in the region

15 new cases and 04 people died due to Covid-19, the regional authorities reported after a new health balance of the local situation.

“We must communicate the death of 4 people due to Covid-19, 2 belonging to the Coquimbo commune and 2 to Monte Patria, for which we send our condolences to family members and loved ones,” reported the Alejandro García Health Seremi.

In addition, the Health Authority reported 12,678 accumulated cases and 117 active ones. Regarding the detail of cases by commune, 4 were reported from La Serena, 5 from Coquimbo, 02 from Illapel, 02 from Salamanca, 01 from Ovalle, and 01 from Punitaqui.

Finally, the Health Authority reiterated the message of prevention and self-care in the Halloween celebrations “For those who celebrate Halloween today I want to reinforce that they avoid leaving their houses to ask for sweets and rather we invite them to carry out recreational activities inside their homes ”. He pointed out.

36 hospitalized patients

For his part, the Director (S) of the Coquimbo Health Service, Edgardo González, referred to the number of beds currently available in the Coquimbo Region. “Today our Healthcare Network has 73% of bed occupancy, out of the 1,166 currently available. In relation to the beds in the Critical Patient Units, we can mention that we have 2 ICU beds, which are those with mechanical ventilators and 8 ICUs ”, he said.

In addition, the authority delivered the report of hospitalized patients in the region. “Today 36 people remain hospitalized as a result of the virus, of which 8 are seriously ill and connected to mechanical ventilation. That is why I would like to reinforce the call to self-care, since it was everyone’s effort that allowed us to move to Phase 4, so let’s not forget that we have to stay alert to Covid and that anyone who has symptoms should consult with a health center ”, he commented.

Finally, the authority reported that there are 21 officials from the Health Service and hospitals who have tested positive for the virus, and 33 are in preventive quarantine. While in Primary Health Care (PHC), no officials are reported who have tested positive for the virus and 14 are kept in quarantine.
