A group of people came this Friday until the Temuco Second Police Station, in the region of La Araucanía, to carry out a watch for the carabinero, 24 years old, which was killed in ambush today in the commune of Padre Las Casas.
The carabinero identified as Eugenio Nain Caniumil it was cash from said police station and died after being hit by a gunshot in the town of Metrenco, when the police unit in which he was traveling was attacked by unknown persons.
The young carabinero was taken to the Temuco Hospital, seriously injured, where he finally He died of his injuries.
Eugenio Nain Caniumil was married and he had two sons. His assassination has provoked the reaction of the Government that has already presented a criminal complaint, while the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, strongly condemned the act of violence.
Different tributes
In different police barracks throughout the country, affection towards the institution has been directly demonstrated, as a result of the death of the carabinero in the region of La Araucanía.
In the commune of Providencia, in the Metropolitan region, the School of Carabineros is located, which is surrounded by flowers and candles in homage to police officer who lost his life.
