Andrea Obrador Ricchiuti (UDI) presented his resignation as seremi of Women and Gender Equity of Maule, after being accused of a robbery in a restaurant.
The information was released by the agency itself through a brief statement published through the social network Twitter.
“The Ministry of Women and Gender Equity reports that, as of today, Mrs. Andrea Obrador has submitted her voluntary resignation from the position of Regional Ministerial Secretary of this portfolio in the Maule region,” the agency said.
Her departure occurred after being accused of stealing a purse with $ 280 thousand in cash, inside the restaurant La Bodeguita del Medio, from Constitución, as far as she had been invited.
The fact would have been noticed by the owner of the premises, Rosalía Arellano, through the security cameras, after which she decided to file the complaint with the Carabineros.
The fact was registered several days ago, however the owner of the restaurant waited for Obrador to retract and return the money, which finally did not happen.
The now ex-seremi will be formalized by the Public Ministry, as confirmed to Radio Bío Bío on Chief Prosecutor for Constitution, Alexie Crisóstomo.
“The complaint against Mrs. Obrador was accepted and immediately, both the prosecutor on duty and the Constitutional Local Prosecutor’s Office, ordered various proceedings to prove these facts,” said the persecutor.
“In this way, with the merit of the antecedents, the decision was adopted to request a hearing from the Constitutional Guarantee Court in order to formalize charges,” added Crisóstomo.
