The conversation took place after Deputy Fuentes, along with other RN parliamentarians, began to promote the idea of a Sichel candidacy -which until now is supported by the PRI- to La Moneda. The situation upset several leaders of that community, who considered the move as disloyalty. Tonight a meal was contemplated with Sichel at Fuentes’s house.
The issue once again stressed the party and caused a new dispute in the community. In addition, internal struggles have been led by the sides represented by the overflowing minister -one of RN’s presidential letters- and the chancellor Andres Allamand. And the latter is close to Deputy Fuentes, who confirmed the appointment at his home and commented that “Some of us see in Sichel an alternative that Chile Vamos should evaluate.”
In addition, he maintained that the idea of the meeting is to talk with Sichel to “To know if it is available and how much you can commit to us.”
In the Desbordes sector they believe that this move is only to harm an eventual candidacy of the Minister of Defense, of those who aspire to resign in March and compete in the primaries. In addition, they attribute Fuentes’s strategy to a play in which Allamand would be involved, although his close ones deny it.
In the middle of this scenario, the deputy Camilo Morán -who promoted a letter signed by several RN leaders for Desbordes to be a presidential candidate- said this Thursday that “it is illogical for them to look for candidates from the outside when there are enough letters within RN.”
