The Minister of the Interior, Victor Perez, met this Wednesday morning with the general director of the PDI, Héctor Espinoza, to express your support for the threats received on social networks.

This Tuesday it was known that the Western Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation to find those responsible for the harassment that Espinoza began to receive, after warning about the weapons that the PDI has to defend itself.

In this context, the head of the Interior moved to the PDI Headquarters located in Santiago Centro, finally materializing the meeting in the Interpol Room.

After that, the chief of staff declared that the Government condemns any type of threats, as it has done on previous occasions when the victims have been, for example, parliamentarians.

“Threats against any person are despicable acts, which we categorically reject,” said Minister Pérez, who stressed that this is especially serious when it affects those who are precisely investigating this type of crime.

For its part, the director of the PDI confessed feeling calm and did not rule out taking legal action.

“No member of the PDI is ever going to be intimidated. We know that when we do a professional and efficient job to remove criminal gangs from circulation, many sectors are not going to like it, “Espinoza said after the meeting.

The harassment against Espinoza began after Monday of last week, on a balance sheet for the anniversary of the social outbreak, he warned that the PDI had lethal weapons and that they would use them if necessary.

On that occasion the director of the PDI you were consulted for a situation where a detective used his service weapon to repel a robbery attempt.

“When an official is attacked, when he defends himself or defends his colleagues, innocent people, there we are not talking about human rights violations,” he said then.

“We categorically say it: we have lethal weapons and we will use them when it is in defense of our personnel, because that is what corresponds,” he remarked.
