A real earthquake is being experienced inside FC Barcelona, because only a few minutes ago Josep Maria Bartomeu submitted his resignation and ceased to be the president of the Catalan club.
At the Board of Directors held this Tuesday, Bartomeu made the decision together with the rest of the club’s board of directors to abandon their positions and thus avoid the motion of the vote of no confidence that it was going to be celebrated yes or yes in the next few days.
The decision was made on this day, because the Generalitat of Catalonia evidenced his position through a letter that he sent to the board on this day, which stated that “there are no legal or sanitary impediments to hold the vote of no confidence, as long as the requirements that the PROCICAT technical group presented at the meeting held on October 21 are included in the organizational protocol ”.
In that sense, the Board led by Bartomeu wanted to carry out said vote, but “Not under the State of Alarm, with the curfew and a number of infections on the rise”, that is, to avoid possible new infections of coronavirus.
Therefore, in the absence of an agreement between the parties, Bartomeu along with his managers made the decision to resign from their positions to avoid these health complications and finish his six-year term in command of the club.
Let us remember that the now former president of Barcelona was being harshly questioned by fans and his peers, due to mismanagement in sports, especially in hiring, in addition to the impediments in achieving the renewal of Lionel Messi’s contract.
