Several doubts regarding the results of the verification process initiated by the Internal Revenue Service (SII) for the delivery of the middle class bond, were raised by the leaders of the public employee associations before the Labor Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

One of the most severe trials was carried out by the president of the Association of SII Examiners, Juan Apablaza, who not only criticized the process, but also expressed concern about the result of the 437 thousand “audits” that are being carried out on people who have allegedly obtained this $ 500,000 state aid without allegedly meeting the requirements.

“To date, based on a nationwide survey, practically in all regional offices, some 8,200 people have come to complain (for the letters that have reached them requesting the return of the voucher) and a slightly higher figure 40% did receive the middle class bonus. It would be worrying if that figure is extrapolated to the total because the population was already told that they were criminals, that they had falsified the data. It hurts us because the anger is unleashed against the officials, ”said the leader.

He also explained that the SII carried out a cross-check of information with administrative antecedents, fully relying on this model, “but the truth is that there have been people who have been asked to return money and the bonus never arrived.” He also commented that the fees have been considered as public officials when they do not have that category. He even stated that quite a few people have approached the SII admitting an error because they did not know what salary to place if the “taxable, gross or net. Furthermore, we have even seen people to whom the voucher corresponded, they decided to return it for fear of criminal prosecution ”.

Apablaza also requested from the director Fernando Barraza, also present in the session, clear instructions regarding how to carry out this case review process, and together with the president of the National Association of SII Officials, they commented that the deadline of November 30 For people to respond to the service request, it is not enough.

The deputies of the Commission after a long session in which they criticized the authorities for immediately blaming the people, requested a breakdown of the figures from the SII, and decided to summon the Comptroller’s Office to find out what actions it will take in the case of public officials.

“Possibly the November 30 limit may be very little for the people mentioned, the possibility of making a mistake is extremely serious because it can lead to legal consequences. We have to look for a solution point to give certainty in the case-by-case review, because a disproportionate sanction cannot be given, ”said the president of the Commission, Deputy Gael Yeomans (CS).
