For the third time in our history Chileans abroad had the option of participating in an election that – without a doubt – will appear in all history books from now on.
According to official figures from the Servel, almost 60 thousand compatriots were authorized to pay from other parts of the world, of which 30,912 finally decided to participate in the Plebiscite.
In general terms, and in the same vein of the national result, the approval was clearly imposed abroad, reaching 82.17% of preferences, once the 216 tables arranged were scrutinized.
There were countries like Vietnam where the option to write the new Constitution won with 100% of the preferences, although only 11 Chileans voted. Same situation of Morocco, where there were 4 of 4 votes in favor of Approval.
In France, with 1,505 voters, the Approve triumphed with 93.95%, as in Sweden where with 1,403 valid votes, that option was imposed with 97.01% of the preferences.
In New Zealand it also won the Approval with 93.33% of the 855 validly cast votes.
In the People’s Republic of China, with 156 votes, the approval also won, although the election was close. According to the official data of the Servel in the Asian giant that option was raised with 50.64% after obtaining 2 more votes than the Rejection.
Latin American panorama
In Latin America, leaving Chile out, the option of drafting a new Magna Carta prevailed but with less slack, scoring 72.60% of the preferences after counting the 12,382 votes.
In fact, on the mainland There were five countries where the Rejection managed to prevail and break with the global trend.
In Venezuela 248 Chileans voted, of which 52.42% chose to reject a new Constitution. The “Approve” failed to seduce the country governed by Nicolás Maduro, raising only 47.58%.
The other four nations where Rejection won were Panama with 53.79% of the 145 votes; The Savior with 53.23% of the 62 votes; Guatemala with 56.94% of the 72 votes and Jamaica with 62.50% of the 8 votes.

In the United Arab Emirates, with only 41 validly cast votes, the Approval lost by one vote reaching 48.78% (20 votes), thus winning the Rejection with 21 preferences scoring 51.22%.
Meanwhile in The Libano and with 17 votes counted, the Rejection won with 64.71% of the total preferences.
The results in the USA
In United States won Approval, but with a much narrower difference than in the rest of the countries where this option was imposed.
In North America 3,978 Chilean votes were counted, gaining the option of a new Fundamental Charter with 62.87% of the votes, relegating Rejection to 37.13%.
In the Miami consulateHowever, 906 votes were received, of which 64.57% were for Rejection, while in the state of The Angels the Approval was imposed with 70.77%, the same as in New York, where that last option scored 74.67% of the votes.
Countries where there was more participation in these votes it was the US with 3,988; Australia with 2,709; Canada with 2,492; Argentina with 2,189; France with 1,506 and Sweden with 1,405 votes.
