It was an obligatory comment during the day: The lines to vote are eternal. That was the feeling with which the voters came and went to their respective precincts for this plebiscite. And that was not just limited to citizenship. The president of the Servel Board of Directors, Patricio Santamaría, advanced record figures.

“We do not want to anticipate data, but I think that without a doubt we are going to exceed 49.2%, which is the maximum participation since 2012,” he said.

And he added that “this is the eighteenth election, considering municipal, parliamentary, presidential and also primary elections, and I think this is going to be the one with the highest participation, especially on the part of young people.”

Participation of older adults

Regarding the preferential hours established for older adults, Santamaría – who took advantage of said space to fund and evaluate – asserted that it was correct.

“I witnessed this vote. We are very happy to have allowed this, and that those who preferred to go tomorrow, their preference was also respected,” he said.
