For President Sebastián Piñera this day is key. And he himself said it this morning, he hopes that democracy will prevail in this plebiscite and that more Chileans participate than in the last municipal election.
In line with that, after the opening of the tables at 8:00, he arrived at his polling place. Around 8.30 in the morning he got out of his vehicle outside the Colegio San Francisco de los Dominicos, in Las Condes, and exercised his right to vote.
There, Piñera spoke to the citizens: “I want to ask all compatriots, first to come and vote, because all voices matter, to do so peacefully and taking care of their health and that we respect the result, the decision of the people , tonight and the days to come “.
Piñera and the plebiscite
After voting, the President went to his home, located in the same commune. As indicated by his team, there he will continue to watch the day, connected at all times with the ministers, who will be deployed in different parts of the territory. It will monitor everything that happens, communicated from its environment.
Then, in the afternoon, he will move to the Palacio de La Moneda, where he will meet with some of his secretaries of state. There you will wait for the results.
It is expected that the first approximations of the consultation will be known around 9:00 p.m.
