In the middle of a live interview with the mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue, the CNN and CHV journalist Mónica Rincón asked him to please take her to the polling place in her car, since hers was “spoiled.”
The event occurred around 8.30 in the morning, in a pattern of several mayors of the group of “Constituent Municipalities”, and while the mayor gave his first statements of the day.
Jadue was very enthusiastic about today’s meeting, although he remarked that “this plebiscite should have been 30 years ago” and called on young people to vote. Along these lines, he declared himself optimistic since “yesterday (Saturday) there was 50% more participation in the constitution of polling stations than in the last election.
The dialogue
He was there when Rincón approached him, apologized to his colleagues, and said:
-Mayor, I have a small problem … I have a small problem. My car broke down, you can take me to the place where you are going to vote.
Somewhat surprised, but reacting quickly, Jadue replied:
-Of course, no problem, he goes with me.
Rincón thanked him, left the group of journalists and closed the office, commenting on how cold it was and the curiosity that Mayor Jadue apparently was not wearing socks.
