The lawyers of the Minister of the Interior, Víctor Pérez, made a precision on the answer to the constitutional accusation that he faces in the Chamber, a document that endorsed the responsibility of the legal control of the Carabineros to the Ministry of Defense, as Chile is under a state of catastrophe.
Mario Rojas and Alejandro Espinoza exposed before the libel review commission this Friday to make a differentiation between land management -which, they insist, corresponds to the country’s defense chiefs- and political management, particularly the stoppage of truckers.
“From the point of view of general guidelines, directive and political principles, the decisions of how the conflict of the truckers was treated, are spring, competition and decision -and so it was in reality- from the Minister of the Interior“explained Rojas.
Therefore, the jurist added that, as regards this manifestation, Pérez “assumes his conduct, his decisions and the grounds he had, and asks that they be duly weighed.”
Deputy Loreto Carvajal to the lawyer Mario Rojas: “It is not exactly what the brief of the answer (to the constitutional accusation) says so there are many questions …”

After the clarification, the president of the commission, Loreto carvajal (PPD), showed that what was indicated by Rojas “It is not exactly what the writing says in the answerSo we have many questions there. “
The deputy added that the document even “opens a door to a competition of competencies that deserves all possible revision”, so Minister Mario Desbordes was summoned to the instance next Monday at 4:00 p.m., together with the heads of National Defense.
The idea, according to Carvajal, is that the Minister of Defense “can give us the required information and clarity of what is happening in our country when we are today in a state of constitutional exception.”
Finally, Pérez’s defense has had to modify his presentation after the questioning of the letter from members of the National Renovation Parliament and the Ministry of Defense, although the former deputy himself stated that “there is no discomfort” for the above in the document.
The commission could vote on the libel next Thursday, while the Chamber could review it on Friday; if not, it could be postponed to the following Tuesday.
