Council of Presidents approves the start of the 2020 Transition Women’s Championship | Football

This Friday the Council of Presidents of the ANFP unanimously approved the start of the Transition 2020 Women’s Championship.

After several months of inactivity due to the coronavirus pandemic, The women’s first division competition will begin on Saturday, October 31, with a total of 16 teams.

The council approved the rules of the tournament, the applicable sanitary protocols and the fixture prepared by the Women’s Soccer Deputy Manager of the ANFP.

The 2020 Transitional Women’s Championship will be held in two groups of 8 teams each. Group A will be made up of: Santiago Morning, Palestino, Everton, Deportes Temuco, Audax italiano, Deportes Iquique, Santiago Wanderers and Deportes Puerto Montt.

While B will be made up of: Colo Colo, Deportes Antofagasta, Universidad de Chile, Arturo Fernández Vial, Universidad Católica, Universidad de Concepción, Cobresal and Deportes La Serena.

In each group the teams will play all against all, in a round, and the two clubs that at the end of the regular stage are in the first two places of their respective keys will advance to the playoffs.

The semifinals (winner Group A vs. second of B and winner of B vs. second of A), they will be played in single matches in direct elimination brackets.

The definition by the title will be made in a single duel in which, in case of equality, the champion will be crowned in a penalty shootout.

Finally, it was determined that for this edition of the local contest there will be no category demotions.
