This Friday, starting at 00:00 hours, the workers of the Mega Syndicate (Sime) will begin an indefinite legal strike, after not reaching an agreement with the company in the middle of collective negotiations.
There are 268 channel collaborators -of a total of 850- who, from tomorrow, will not enter the building located in Vicuña Mackena 1370, in the commune of Ñuñoa.
BioBioChile was able to confirm the beginning of the mobilization with sources from the channel. Meanwhile, the president of Sime, Juan Carlos Riquelme, announced that they will meet at around 10:00 a.m. outside the facilities to make their demands known.
In an email sent to Megamedia workers, the executive director Patricio Hernández maintains that “as a company we want to guarantee that all parties can simultaneously exercise their right to strike and their right to work in peace, for which I expressly request (…) that have a respectful behavior ”.
“Tomorrow, the unionized workers will not go to work for their corresponding tasks (…) We know that we are in a delicate moment regarding health measures, therefore we know that we cannot be there all day and the protections, that’s why we we will gather a couple of hours tomorrow, symbolically, “Riquelme told BioBioChile.
He explained that, within the framework of the negotiation, the workers did not accept the company’s latest offer. In addition, the great annoyance is that the Press union, which negotiated a few months ago, obtained a superior offer.
Specific, Mega offers its workers a salary readjustment of $ 20 thousand for March 2021 and a bonus for the end of the conflict of $ 450 thousand, with another possible delivery in 2021 of $ 400 thousand, depending on the earnings of the television signal.
The decision comes after a mediation between the channel and personnel of the Labor Inspectorate, which also failed to stop the demands.
“We have workers from various areas, but we also have workers in specific and important positions in the press area. When one visualizes that this weekend the Plebiscite is going to be broadcast, it will not go unnoticed (the strike) on the broadcast, ”added Riquelme.
“Understanding that, we made the company see that we did not want to go on strike (…) but still in the final offer no will was seen and it forced us to come to this“, Hill.
