An agricultural company linked to the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Juan Sutil, denounced an attack on berry orchards located in the Parral commune, Maule region.

Through a public statement, Empresas Sutil reported that this Tuesday “Damage caused by possible poisoning of organic strawberry and blackberry orchards was found, corresponding to a total area of ​​53 hectares”.

According to the company’s internal investigation, the attack would have materialized introducing herbicides into dosing drums that were used to apply fertilizer in the plantation through the drip irrigation system.

“The presence of bags of chemical product was detected, whose specificities and origin are being investigated by the pertinent organisms”, they add in the text.

The events were reported to the Public Ministry, which this afternoon confirmed the initiation of an investigation to establish the veracity of the facts denounced and eventual responsibilities.

The chief prosecutor of Parral, Nelson Riquelme, He detailed that the events would have occurred on October 6, however only today they had knowledge.

“Indeed today a complaint was received for events that would have occurred on October 6 of this year, consisting of the discovery of bags with foreign content in ponds and irrigation system of the property “, indicated the persecutor.

In this context, the field work of the prosecutor (s) was ordered, Francisco Avila, who moved to the Santo Domingo Fund in the company of PDI detectives and staff Agricultural and Livestock Service (SINKING).

After carrying out the first steps, the prosecutor instructed the work of a specialized section of the PDI: The Brigade Investigating Crimes Against the Environment (Bidema).

In this regard, the independent senator (former Evópoli and current pro RN), Carmen Gloria Aravena, indicated that this situation is a new form of terrorist attack.

“This is a new form of terrorist attack and apparently they want to destroy not only trucks, forests, schools and churches, but also agricultural and productive activities,” he stressed.

Along the same lines, in its public statement, the affected company anticipated responsibilities, assuring that it was “acts of violence carried out by irrational minorities that seek to damage and destroy the most precious and fundamental assets of Chilean women and men, such as life, freedom, security, work and democracy ”.

In the same document they warn that “No one can be indifferent to the violence of a few who are causing so much devastation to our country”.

Adding that “recovering social peace is an ethical imperative and an indispensable condition for Chile to grow again, to create jobs and provide a better future for all its inhabitants ”.

Until now, it is not clear why the company took two weeks to report what happened to the corresponding authorities, although that could have happened due to the internal investigation that the company initiated on the day of the attack.
