The Public Ministry delivered new information on Tuesday for the death of a young man in the La Victoria population of the Pedro Aguirre Cerda commune, in the context of the anniversary of the social outbreak.
Sunday night Aníbal Villarroel, 26, died after receiving a bullet impact that would have been fired by a Chilean Carabineros official, in the middle of a violent exchange of shots between protesters and police.
In this context, the Violent Crimes prosecutor of the South Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, Christian Toledo, indicated that they have managed to collect ballistic and audiovisual evidence that could be key to clarifying the case.
According to the antecedents provided by the persecutor, evidence was found at the site of the event that accounts for the exchange of fire between police and civilians, pointing to the discovery of remnants of ammunition of different caliber.
Along with this, the researcher indicated, the images were recovered from the cameras that were carried that day by the police present in the place.
Likewise, the Public Ministry had access to the bullet recovered from the body of the deceased, after the examination carried out by personnel from the Legal Medical Service.
According to the first antecedents, the young man died after receiving a bullet impact in his thorax, a situation that is being investigated in collaboration with the Homicide Brigade and Human Rights Brigade of the PDI.
