A member of the Navy was arrested for participating in disorders that ended with a fire at the Carabineros Church

On Sunday afternoon, a member of the Navy was detained by Carabineros personnel after participating in public disorders, during the demonstrations that took place today in the capital, which ended with the institutional Church of the Carabineros burned.

The institution, through a communiqué, categorically rejected the participation of the naval servant in violent acts “that are completely different from the current regulations and the principles and values ​​that guide us.”

If the facts attributed to him are verified, they add from the Navy, “the regulations and institutional disciplinary measures will be applied.”

In relation to the detained member of the Institution, the Navy confirmed “that it corresponds to a Corporal of the Concón Air Naval Base, who was on his day off duty.”

“Currently the member of the Institution is detained in the 19th Police Station of Providencia, at the disposal of the competent Courts for the corresponding investigation,” he adds.

“The Chilean Navy condemns these events in the strongest way and if the participation of this member of the Institution is verified, it will take the corresponding disciplinary measures,” they conclude.
