40 thousand troops nationwide, 900 body cameras and aerial controls with helicopters and drones, are part of the strategy developed by the Carabineros to tackle the first year since the so-called social outbreak.
Given the various calls to demonstrate this Sunday, October 18, the police and the Ministry of the Interior will implement a contingency plan to safeguard public order and ensure that the commemoration without acts of violence.
In this context, it is that they will have 40,000 troops throughout the country and will apply technology to keep records of the disorders and damages that could be generated, La Tercera reported.
They will also have more than 900 body cameras and the demonstrations will be controlled by air, both in helicopters and with seven drones.
In parallel, flagrante delicto prosecutors expanded, those that must be constituted in the police stations and where incidents take place to carry out the corresponding procedures.
In the days prior to the commemoration, there has been a call to put aside violence and make responsible use of the right to demonstrate.
On Saturday they stopped at 13 people during incidents in the vicinity of Plaza Baquedano, in the Metropolitan region.
Despite this, the Interior Minister, Víctor Pérez, appreciated that “the vast majority of Chileans yesterday gave a demonstration of moderation and peace. They went quietly to their homes to show that they are for peace and against violence ”.
