Christian Garin will change coach for next season. Through his social networks, Gago announced the decision to end the stage he lived with the Argentine Andrés Schneiter, with whom he came to be 18th in the ATP.
“After more than 2 years of working together, the gringo and I have decided to take different paths for the 2021 season. I am very grateful for everything Andres has done for me, he has taught me a lot during this time and the work done has paid off, helping me to reach the top 20. I wish you the best of luck in your new projects! ”commented the 20th in the world.
Garin and Schneiter’s relationship comes to an end, after two successful years in which the Chilean had the highest growth of his professional career. The Argentine took Gago’s technical direction when he was just in position 159 in the ranking. In other words, the progress of the Ariqueño was unquestionable while he was with the Gringo.
Garin reached five finals at the hands of the transandean, winning the titles of Houston, Munich, Córdoba and the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, it fell in the definition of Sao Paulo in 2019.
The first approach was at Wimbledon 2018, months before the joint work began fully. So much was the progress and commitment between the two, that at the beginning of 2020, Schneiter stopped training his compatriot Juan Ignacio Lóndero and dedicated himself exclusively to Garin’s needs. However, that path came to an end after what was announced by the Chilean.
