Guevara showed himself critical of this type of event and argued that those who vandalize or create excesses in demonstrations “do not love democracy.”
On the acid criticism of the Army, which lashed out at having the statue painted, Guevara gave a boost to the institution.
“We have great respect for our history. Countries that do not know, do not respect their history have no future. Whoever does not know where he comes from has no idea where he is going, ”he added, after which he highlighted the general’s participation in the armed conflicts with neighboring countries in which he served the country.
