In a frank conversation with LUN, the journalist explained that this period has made him reflect a lot. “All this that has happened helped me to think about what I want to do in the short term (…) To rethink many things personally, such as returning to (Puerto) Natales, I mean it seriously,” he said.
“My children are already grown up and it is a subject that I think about it constantly. My north has always been to return to my land. I am close to turning 30 years on television and I am also close to 50 years, “he added.
Specifically, Solabarrieta affirmed that he has been passing stages, so he feels that the end is near.
“I would not like to perpetuate myself on television. I think that Sapito (Sergio Livingstone) and Pedro Carcuro are unique cases, but I don’t see myself much longer on screen, although I like what I do. I am happy on ESPN. My departure will not be tomorrow; but in a couple of years “, he pointed out.
For his part, the departure of several of his relatives has affected him a lot, which has also led him to think about his return to the south.
“They are part of my history in Natales and in my life. And that’s why I went on that flight of wanting to return. Also, I don’t want to find myself in a different city than the one I left when I was a brat, ”he continued.
Regarding your plans for your life in Puerto NatalesHe recognized that he would like to dedicate himself to tourism. However, he mainly wants to try to live and recover things that he experienced as a child.
“Another of my wishes is to have a boxing academy, which I love and practice frequently, and to be able to travel with the boys from there to competitions throughout Chile. But I don’t want to go back to a different place, “he added.
And what does Ivette Vergara say about this idea? “When we got married he said yes. Now she’s on her projects, like doing exercise routines and working with personal care products and dietary supplements under her Nu Skin brands. She is more than clear about the path I want to take. She has always supported me in everything ”, he mentioned.
Of course, the journalist said he understood that his children do not want to accompany him. “They have a life ahead of them and they will surely want to fly and do their thing. I also had to go out as a child and I found my way. Obviously you want to be with them your whole life, but I can’t force them. My children have their ideas very clear, “he said.
“I want to go back to Puerto Natales. I think now is the time to take it seriously. I’m super happy on ESPN, the numbers are excellent and I want to continue at this. But there is that little bug that tells me: ‘Fernando, it’s time to go back.’ It won’t be next year, but the end is near ”, he closed.
