The Ministry of Women and Gender Equity announced a criminal complaint against Ricardo Neira, accused by the prosecution of the femicide of Carolina Fuentes Bustos, whose body was found on Monday in the Ñuble River, after almost 100 days disappeared.
The seremi of the Woman of Ñuble, Bárbara Henning, explained that “very strong antecedents were known about this case and the truth is that as a Ministry, together with the National Women’s Service (SernamEG), we are going to become part of a complaint. We have the sponsorship of Carolina’s son, which makes us more strongly complain against the author of this horrible femicide. “
“We are part of this tremendous pain in Carolina’s family, we do not want there to be more cases like this, we want women to dare to report, and we urge them to do so because it is the only way we can help,” he added Henning.
Neira was formalized on Friday, remaining in preventive detention while the investigation lasts, whose term is eight months.
The femicide of Carolina Fuentes
At the formalization hearing, the Ñuble regional prosecutor, Nayalet Mansilla, reported that there had been a love affair between the accused and the victim since 2015, which they maintained at a distance, between Santiago – where Fuentes was domiciled – and Ninhue.
On June 15, Fuentes traveled to the Ñuble region to carry out a procedure – the sale of a truck that he received as an inheritance – and it was in those circumstances that for a few days, between June 25 and 30, “he stayed with the accused, staying together at his home “, in Portezuelo, the prosecutor explained.
“On June 30, in the afternoon, after the couple had an argument at the defendant’s house, they both boarded his truck. The defendant, who drove the vehicle, took the victim to a place near her home, within the Portezuelo commune, where he proceeded to attack her with a forceful element in different parts of the body, such as the head, back and upper extremities, “the prosecutor explained.
“Then,” he added, “he proceeded to cover his mouth and nose, causing him to suffocate by suffocation, which caused his death.”
