A Carabineros official was injured after the Ercilla Sub-police Station, in the La Araucanía region, was attacked with shots by unknown persons.
The incident occurred after 9:00 p.m., when the corporal first carried out surveillance duties as a sentry outside the barracks. It was then that, from a moving truck, unknown persons fired a series of shots that hit his abdomen and one of his arms.
After the attack, personnel from the barracks went in search of those responsible, unable to find their whereabouts.
In parallel, the officer of the Public Order staff had to be transferred to the Victoria Hospital, where he receives medical attention. He is reportedly out of life risk.
At the time of the event, the policeman was wearing his uniform and security equipment, which prevented the consequences of the attack from being greater.
The Sub-police station is located at the access to Ercilla, near Route 5.
