The Minister of the Interior, Víctor Pérez, participated via zoom of the Situation Workshops, organized by the Jaime Guzmán Foundation, and there he referred to the difficult moment in the country, assuring that the social outbreak of October 18 “had an undeniable political origin.”
“October 18 had an undeniable political origin that we cannot ignore. The UDI, who follow Jaime Guzmán, are part of a virtuous cycle of the Chilean economy. Chile has never grown as much as between 1986 and the beginning of the The 2000s and this is a product of our ideas, a product of our policies, but we also made mistakes or omissions or we did not realize issues that were fundamental for people’s lives, “said Pérez.
Regarding these errors or omissions, he exemplified with education and pensions, and pointed to the October plebiscite and the Constituent Convention, which will be held in case of winning the Approval, as the opportunity to “save Chile.”
“We have an immense challenge. If in the end there is going to be a Constituent Convention, we have to play the whole game that our best men, women, young people and professionals, play it there. Not only as candidates, but also actively to achieve a better result. And I believe that this is absolutely feasible if we assume the responsibility of saving Chile. Because that is the call, saving Chile, “he said.
He also referred to the constitutional accusation presented against him by the opposition: “I believe that it is a political weapon that our adversaries use to try to disable the actions of the Government. They have no basis, I believe that it is only a political weapon to unite a political sector that is very disintegrated and that has many differences. And it is trying to put sticks to the road, difficulties in the transit to solve our problems through democratic means, “he argued.
“Trying to disable the Government, trying to behead the Chilean police force 15 days before a plebiscite, 10 or 8 days after a difficult situation such as the social crisis that the country experienced last year, show that they are not on a path of agreements, dialogues and consensus “, he closed.
This day the members of the National Police Reform Commission came to the La Moneda Palace to expedite the process.
