At least two dead and five injured left a huge multiple collision recorded this Friday morning on Route 5 South, near the commune of Victoria.
The preliminary balance reported by the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that there are 20 vehicles involved: 12 vans, five cars and three trucks. Of these, seven ended up completely burned.
The head of the Carabineros area, General Carlos González, regretted the fact and said that the accident would have been registered due to the weather conditions in the area, the one covered by a dense fog.
The injured people were transferred to the Victoria and Lautaro hospitals. In case of requiring more complex care, they will be taken to the Temuco Hospital.
Origin of the accident
The general indicated that he met with the first driver, who told him that he was driving north, when a truck turned on the emergency lights.
For this reason, he slowed down, at which point he felt a blow to the rear of the vehicle. Impact product swerved and collided with the barrier that divides the tracks, which caused the fatal accident.
Too ruled out that the collision was initiated by an arson attack in the area, as it began to spread in other media and social networks.

Government authorities arrived at the place, while the SIAT de Carabineros and Labocar are investigating this multiple collision.
Specialized fire crews also arrived at the scene, both to attend to those affected and to control the flames.
