The Undersecretary of Healthcare Networks, Arturo Zuniga, affirmed that the complaints filed against the health authorities for handling the pandemic are a communicational maneuver and that they come from a communist mayor.

“I have an opinion that these complaints come from a communist mayor (Daniel Jadue) who is a presidential candidate which probably has a political and communicational origin, and in that sense, our only focus is the pandemic, ”he explained to Radio Universo.

Zúñiga’s words come after it was revealed that a former official and a current professional from the Ministry of Health, declared before the Prosecutor’s Office that they received instructions to manipulate the numbers of COVID-19 infections in April.

At the same time, the Supreme Court must determine if the Prosecutor’s Office can have access to the emails and other documents of the Minsal authorities, to investigate if there was any crime in the handling of the pandemic.

Zúñiga affirmed that they are focused on managing the pandemic, so they have not focused on the situation with the Prosecutor’s Office.

“We as health authorities are totally focused on this pandemic, we cannot be distracted by these matters that the prosecution is seeing, that the courts of justice are seeing, and for that there are lawyers who are taking the cases and are seeing with the prosecution how we can help in this investigation, ”he added.
