A state official on Wednesday denounced the Minister of Economy, Lucas Palacios, for having kicked him.
The fact was reported by the Conflict Commission of the National Association of Fiscal Employees (Anef).
“This morning the Minister of Economy, Lucas Palacios, attacked (a kick) a public official of his service for getting in his way,” they assured.
Through a statement, which is recorded by the Radio Bío-Bío portal, the Secretary of State himself gave his version of what happened, noting that the event took place while he was making a presentation by videoconference with the World Bank together with two officials from the portfolio that they provided technical support.
Before the presentation, they were given “instructions that cell phones should be turned off so as not to interrupt it. The exhibition had to be in English and without cuts ”.
“The recording required that I speak seated and directly to a camera, less than half a meter away from it, without being able to move from that frame, due to the technical requirements of the World Bank,” said Palacios.
“During the course, one of the officials sitting next to me began to use his cell phone, to which I wanted to attract his attention with gestures while still looking at the camera. However, he did not see me, despite my insistence. Before repeated gestures, I managed to touch his leg with my left shoe under the table, so that he could see me, finally managing to capture his attention while the recording continued ”, added.
“At the end of my presentation, I noticed that the officer was uncomfortable, so I told him to apologize if the call for attention bothered him, and that he was available to discuss the situation. After this, the official withdrew from the ministry, ”the authority continued.
“I am deeply sorry for this situation, and I apologize if this fact caused any inconvenience. the official or any other person. I have always cared about having a very good relationship with people and this is no exception. On the contrary, all the people who work with me know that respect and affection are the fundamental pillar of my employment relationship ”, the Minister of Economy closed in his statement.
