The review commission of the constitutional accusation against the former Minister of Health Jaime Mañalich agreed on Tuesday night vote the libel during the day of Thursday, October 8.

With this, the text will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies where the previous question will be debated and voted on.

At today’s meeting, legislators listened to Dr. Rafael Araos, head of the Department of Epidemiology of Minsal (DEIS).

Araos denied this information and assured that the current system used is robust and that it meets all international standards.

He also intervened in the instance Lorenzo Agar, doctor in social sciences, who stated that he believed that the Government had taken all measures to safeguard the health of the population.

Finally, the last to exhibit was Carmen Gloria Chacana, former head of the Department of Technologies, Information and Communications of the Minsal.

There he referred to the operation of the parallel data collection system, the implementation of containment and testing policies.

Izkia Siches, president of the Medical College, also participated in the session, where accused that Mañalich contributed to damaging the public faith.

The divided opposition managed to raise this accusation against Mañalich for his handling of the first stage of the pandemic, with which the doctor risks not being able to hold public office for a period of five years.

In a 50-page document, the legislators reviewed their performance at the head of the Minsal and affirmed that, with the arrival of the new coronavirus, Mañalich seriously violated the Constitution and the laws to having put the life and health of the population at risk.
