Customs and fraud for the export of raspberries: “Once the complaint was received (in 2016), we activated the control procedures, resulting in a criminal sentence against a Chilean citizen”

This Tuesday the Reuters agency released a report, which revealed a fraud carried out by a Chilean company in which lower quality raspberries harvested in China were exported to important markets as if they were Chilean products.

The company that reported the events is Frutícola Olmué, a company belonging to the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Juan Sutil.

The National Customs Service reacted to the news and stated that, as reported to Reuters when it requested the information, that “once the complaint filed in 2016 was received, the National Customs Service activated the respective control procedures, as required. that resulted in the issuance of a conviction in criminal matters against a Chilean citizen, by a Chilean court of law, which we must abide by ”.

Along these lines, Customs pointed out that “the investigation was carried out within the scope of our powers and with the depth that the case warranted, which concluded with the results described above.”
