The Comptroller General of the Republic delivered this Tuesday the result of an investigation against the Municipality of Maipú for a millionaire trip to Mendoza to see ballet. Therefore, they must return more than $ 14 million.

Following a complaint from Deputy Claudia Mix, the Comptroller’s Office initiated an investigation where it was found that the municipality carried out improper expenses of just over $ 10 million by purchasing 69 air tickets, 62 of them for the students and parents of the school.
According to the comptroller, the municipality did not report the budget assigned to the cultural program, so it was not possible to verify whether it had established the purchase of said tickets.

Travel expenses
Likewise, it was found that the municipality paid $ 4.6 million for per diem of 11 officials with honoraria, whose contracts did not contemplate the payment of said item derived from assignments outside the country.
Adding both items, the municipality will have to return around $ 14.7 million for this trip.
Along with this, it was reported that in the list of travelers by air two paid workers were repeated who were also on the land travel payroll, “for which reason it was not possible to determine who were the ones who used the two air tickets to travel to the city of Mendoza, to the presentation of the ballet work.
Finally, the comptroller body reported that “it was found that the Municipality of Maipú has not administratively sanctioned the Regulation called ‘Procedure for the authorization and payment of travel expenses for service commissions and committed officials of the Municipality of Maipú’, nor has the Manual of Benefits for Honorary Providers, documents that were used as a basis for the personnel hired under the indicated modality to travel to the city of Mendoza, Argentina, to the presentation of the ballet work La Cenicienta, from March 24 to 28 of 2019. The foregoing violates Article 3 of Law No. 19,880, on the Basis of Administrative Procedures that govern the acts of the organs of the State Administration ”.
