A Transantiago bus was completely burned tonight in the Ñuñoa commune while demonstrations were taking place
The incident occurred after 9:45 p.m. on Avenida Grecia with Obispo Orrego, where at least three firefighting units arrived to control the flames.
Lieutenant Colonel María Trinidad Pascual, commissioner of the 33rd Police Station in Ñuñoa, pointed out that according to the driver’s account, the vehicle “was intercepted by two or more individuals (…) and they asked her to open the door because they wanted the fire extinguisher of the bus. He opens the front door of the bus for him, the individuals enter with bare faces and one of them takes out a weapon-like item from his clothing at head level and forces him to get off the bus.
For their part, upon reaching the scene of the accident, the volunteers had problems controlling the flames due to the presence of protesters in the area.
“When he got to the first car at the place, he realized that the conditions necessary for the work of the Fire Department were not there, there were a large number of protesters in the place, therefore, initially he could not work. Approximately five minutes later the alarm was dispatched again and fortunately the necessary conditions were already in place so that Firefighters could work normally, ”said the Second Commander of the Ñuñoa Firefighters Company, Juan Quevedo, to Canal 24 Horas.
The bus driver, who was not injured, was transferred to the Central Station ACHS.
