The Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago decreed the precautionary measure of preventive detention against Carabinero Sebastián Zamora, accused of attempted murder against a 16-year-old boy, after causing his fall from the Pío Nono bridge in Santiago.

The incident occurred last Friday during a series of demonstrations in the vicinity of Plaza Baquedano, where, according to different records, the police officer caused the adolescent to fall from a height of more than 7 meters into the Mapocho River.

The judge indicated during the reading that the evidence presented so far proves that there was fraud on the part of the police officer and that it is ruled out that the fall was accidental.

In addition, an investigation period of 120 days was established to determine what happened and the criminal responsibilities.
