Minister Figueroa indicated this morning, during the daily report on the pandemic, that he worked on the design of a “Step by Step” plan for the restart of face-to-face educational activities, which considers three axes: security, voluntariness and gradualism.

“Security believes that no school will be opened if the sanitary conditions that effectively allow it are not met. Volunteerism implies that the establishments themselves will make the decision to reopen their doors after working with their communities, also considering the voluntary nature of attending the establishment. Lastly, gradualism aims at gradually and gradually complying with these health protocols, ”the Minister of Education reported.

He added that prior to return, sanitary conditions must be met in the territory of the establishment, which must comply with the measures established in the protocols according to each reality; work directly with the educational community; induction to teachers and directive teachers to understand the process of gradual restart and reopening; and, finally, the formalization of the plan for the Ministry of Education to evaluate and authorize the reopening.

Meanwhile, Dr. Humberto Soriano complemented Minister Figueroa’s statement, stating that “there is concern about the harm, in girls and boys, that is causing the confinement and that translates, for example, into increases in the exposure of screens of socialization, increase of inequality and creation of bad habits, among others ”.

“The question must be where, when and how will we return to class and that is what the protocols are for. Pediatricians are concerned about the immediate and future damage to physical and mental health that the confinement is causing, the lack of school, “said Soriano, who pointed out that” we want children who are in a commune where sanitary conditions are comply, they have the right to return to classes ”.
