Court ratified prosecution of three officers (R) for destruction of CNI files

This Thursday the Court of Appeals ratified the order to process the three retired Army officers, for their participation in the theft and destruction of archives of the CNI during the years 2000 and 2001

The decision taken by the judge Mario Carroza was appealed by Eduardo Jara, Red mercedes Y Carlos Chacon considering that they should be acquitted, something that the Court ignored.

What did change was the condition of former Lieutenant Colonel Rojas, who after the complaint of the London 38 Foundation in conjunction with the House of Memory, from accomplice to perpetrator of the crime.

As explained in the resolution “had a direct and immediate participation in the criminal figure described, since being in charge of the custody of documents that came from the CNI, ordered subordinates to proceed to his cremation“.

On the other hand, Jara, former director of intelligence for the Army, and Chacón, former chief of the Army General Staff, remained as authors and accessories, respectively.
