Left divided: former Concertación registers pact for legal primaries without PC or Frente Amplio | National

After the failure of the negotiations with the Broad Front, parties of the former Concertación arrived on Wednesday afternoon at the Servel offices to register the pact for the legal primaries for governors.

The coalition formed for the next elections to regional authorities will finally be made up of the Progressive Convergence (Party for Democracy, Radical Party, Socialist Party), Christian Democrats, Citizens and the PRO.

The latter -for the moment- signed the pact without the Communist Party and the Social Green Regionalist Federation (FRVS), parties that make up its political house: Unity for Change.

Precisely the surprise of this day was marked by the exclusion of the PC, while doubts persist regarding what will happen for the municipal primaries.

“Armor”

When consulted the president of the PPD, Heraldo Muñoz, on what is the responsibility of the Broad Front, he assured that it was “supposedly having called primaries in all regions and privately having requested shielding for at least six regions.”

“Acts and not words, you have to be consistent in public and then also in private,” questioned the former foreign minister.

When required by the situation of the Communist Party, he declined to give details: “They have to answer for themselves,” he said briefly.

“We made every effort to get all the actors to join, but hey … they made different decisions,” said PS President Álvaro Elizalde.
