As “completely unnecessary.” This is how the former minister described this Sunday Pablo Longueira hold the entry plebiscite to define whether or not to draft a new Constitution. Along these lines, he argued that 2021 is “the most important” due to an eventual election of conventional constituents.
“When I saw that there was a plebiscite, which I consider completely unnecessary, I spoke with many people (…) it caught my attention because it seems nonsense, especially in the midst of the pandemic. But the most important thing is next year and that is where the people of Rejection and Approval are going to meet again “, said in conversation with Central Table of Channel 13.
Along these lines, in addition, he reaffirmed that “anyway” he will run as a candidate for said elections and said that “it is important that people understand that the real battle of ideas is at next year’s Convention and that is why I announced that I am going to go through the worst district in Chile to defend the ideas that I think are the best for the country ”.
But it is not the only choice Longueira aspires to. On previous occasions, the former parliamentarian had already expressed his intention to head a list for the internal elections of the UDI – set for December – and this time he was no exception: “I will compete for the presidency ”, stressed.
In that sense, he advanced that “I am already forming a team of the directive, I am consulting with the party bases (…) I am going to form a team that leads the UDI for a very decisive year like the next one.”
Adding that “I am going to raise up a team of young people who I think are the ones who should lead the UDI”, since “I am part of a stage that ends in 2022”, He acknowledged.
