The Minister of Transport, Gloria Hutt, assured this afternoon that the public system has all the necessary sanitary measures, after different mayors showed their concern about the lack of confinement of Santiago almost in its entirety, a situation that will begin to rule from tomorrow.

In order to protect the health of users during their mobilization, the Government anticipated that an important work will be carried out to sanitize buses, three, ticket offices and turnstiles in the bus network and Metro, in addition to the implementation of other measures, such as time additional green lights at traffic lights located on avenues with high traffic flow.

“The entire system is in its capacity but the most important thing is that all the health measures are in place. The mandatory use of masks continues to be key to our safety, so we call on users not to relax these measures, whether or not we are in the public transport system since the risks of contact can be anywhere ”, assured the Secretary of State .

And he added that the national mobility plan has also intervened in public space, adapting more bicycle paths, wider sidewalks and other measures that seek to increase security in public space and diversify people’s travel options.

In addition, the head of Transportation referred to the possibility of interregional trips for those who live in communes in stage 3 or higher, an option that will also take effect this Monday.

“It is coordinating with the companies, the administrators of the bus terminals, health personnel and the Police, the way to face this increase in the demand for travel, ensuring compliance with health regulations, but without this meaning excessive delays in the paperwork, ”Hutt closed.
