In the River region They were reported 56 new cases of coronavirus, the highest number so far in the pandemic. The health authority called for extreme care, recognizing that there is viral circulation.

In Valdivia there were 36 new cases, 5 in Panguipulli, 4 in Corral, 2 in Lanco, Mariquina, Paillaco, Rio Bueno and La Unión, and 1 in Futrono.

In the region they remain 357 active cases, of which 164 are in the regional capital. Meanwhile, active infections are registered in all communes.

On the other hand, the Seremi de Salud reported that of the accumulated cases to date, 1,078 people are kept in mandatory quarantine because they are high-risk contacts.

In relation to the demand for hospitalization, as of today, they remain 22 people hospitalized. Of these, 12 are admitted to the Hospital Base de Valdivia, one in the Intensive Care Unit connected to mechanical ventilation.

In turn, at the Hospital de La Unión there are three hospitalized and at the hospitals of Río Bueno and Santa Elisa de Mariquina there are two. While in the Los Lagos, Paillaco and Corral hospitals there is one person hospitalized in each one.

The Minister of Health, Regina Barra, said that the arrival of spring can promote greater mobility, this condition appearing as a risk and called for extreme care and avoid social gatherings.


In the last 24 hours, they were processed 850 PCR tests, with a positivity rate of 6.5%, the accumulated rate being 4%.

On the other hand, the seremi Barra reported that on the last day 288 people were prevented from entering the region, after the sanitary control of 12,895 in the sanitary customs.
