DEIS: 17,075 deaths from Covid in Chile, between confirmed and probable

The Department of Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health estimated this Saturday at 17,075 people who died, between confirmed and probable cases, by Covid-19 in Chile.

According to the 15th Weekly Report of Deaths, Thursday, September 24, 12,591 deaths with confirmed PCR test were registered, 337 more people than last week.

The probable deaths – waiting for confirmation or discard of the contagion by Covid-19 -, meanwhile, stand at 4,484.

The communes with the highest mortality, adjusted for age and sex, in the last two weeks are Punta Arenas, Parral and Ovalle, with an adjusted rate of 12.01; 6.00 and 5.89, respectively.

At the national level, the Metropolitan Region maintains the adjusted mortality rate per 100 thousand total inhabitants, considering confirmed and probable, higher with 76.69, followed by the Antofagasta Region with 65.29 and that of Tarapacá with 51.22

Meanwhile, epidemiological report No. 54 released by the same agency showed that in Chile, up to September 24, 512,964 cases of COVID-19 have been registered (453,868 with laboratory confirmation and 59,096 probable, without laboratory confirmation ), with a rate of 2,636.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The highest cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to cases confirmed by laboratory are found in the Magallanes Region (4349.0), Region Metropolitan (3918.6) and Region of Tarapacá (3357.9) “, highlighted the DEIS.

Additionally, the Minsal agency highlighted that “of the confirmed and probable reported cases in EPIVIGILA, the median age is
39 years, where 6.0% corresponded to persons under 15 years of age, 24.1% to persons aged 15-29, 30.0% to persons aged 30-44, 29.0% to persons 45-64 years, while the remaining 10.9% to adults 65 and over “.
