Ministry of Social Development warns of attempted scam via WhatsApp and Facebook with false “Solidarity Income Program”

The Ministry of Social Development and Family reported a possible scam by offering false social benefits through WhatsApp and Facebook.

Through these platforms, a message is circulated informing about the start of the fifth installment of the “Solidarity Income Program” that would include financial support of $ 160,000 to families.

The message attaches a link to a web platform to register and access the supposed benefit, for which a series of personal information is requested.

“The Ministry of Social Development and Family clarifies to the public that the” Solidarity Income Program “does not exist within the offer of benefits and social benefits implemented by the State, nor does it have any relationship with the Emergency Family Income, therefore that it could be a scam ”, indicates the portfolio.

The ministry added that “the information gathered so far indicates that the fake site originated in Colombia and spread to other countries, including Chile.”

The Minister of Social Development and Family, Karla Rubilar, called on the public to “take all the safeguards so as not to fall into this type of deception and obtain information through the official channels that the Government of Chile has established regarding the different programs and social benefits and apply for them only through said platforms ”.

According to the portfolio, until now, there is no evidence of the existence of victims of this type of scam in our country, without prejudice to the fact that legal actions are evaluated before these events that are criminal in nature.
