The Former President and High Commissioner for Human Rights of the UN, Michelle Bachelet, denounced that the regime she heads Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela would be responsible for 2,039 deaths between January and August of this year.

Based on an open source analysis, my Office recorded 711 deaths from June to August, reaching more than 2,000 deaths since January 2020“Bachelet raised during the session of the Human Rights Council.
Despite this, Bachelet appreciated the arrest of five members of the Special Action Forces (FAES), allegedly responsible for the death of two people on August 21 in Zulia.
“The public statements of the Attorney General on this case show a pattern similar to that documented by my Office, in which after executing the victims already neutralized, the security forces steal them and manipulate the evidence to present the facts as a confrontation, “he said.
In her report, the high commissioner also expressed her concern about restrictions on freedom of expression in Venezuela. In addition, she called to continue with the liberation of people. “who remain arbitrarily deprived of liberty for exercising their rights.”
Regarding the next elections, Bachelet urged to advance in “the construction of agreements to reach conditions for the development of credible, free, inclusive and equitable electoral processes”.
On the other hand, criticized the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice, arguing that their decisions “obstruct the freedom of selection of the representatives of seven political parties and the non-consensual appointment of the members of the National Electoral Council, as well as the modification by this Council of the mechanism for selecting indigenous representatives for the National Assembly, changes to the electoral system and the composition of the National Assembly without a process inclusive of prior consultation “.
