In this regard, he referred to Bío Bío Express, the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa, who reiterated the negative effects of not recovering academic activities.
A national level there are about 200 applications, 50 are resolved and the schools are in classes and the rest are being evaluated.
“According to what the health authority has decreed for the Step by Step plan, when the communes go to phase 4 it is understood that the sanitary conditions of that territory already allow a gradual deconfinement, but in phase 3 it has to be analyzed more specifically ”, detailed.
He stressed that the important elements of the safe return plan to face-to-face classes is safety, volunteerism for both supporters and families, no dad is going to be obliged to send his son to school in the event that opens; and that it is gradual.
“When it is announced that an establishment asked to open, it is not for the whole school at the same time, but there is a gradualness that starts with the largest courses, such as third and fourth year students.” explained.
In the case of the 50 schools that already have face-to-face classes, he said that attendance reaches levels similar to those they had before the pandemic. “It is variable, but around 90%” he later specified.
“It is about recovering an educational experience, because the parents have reasonable doubts and feel that if the school opens, it opens as if nothing has happened here and we go back to March 5 of this year, but no, they are intermediate experiences ”.
“It is worth their return because each time that can be used, in different circumstances, is tremendously beneficial for all courses,” he emphasized.
Refusal of the mayors
Several mayors, including government officials, have publicly stated that they will not resume face-to-face classes this year. Figueroa described the position as “a mistake” because it is “Close the door to the students to recover a school experience that is very valuable and necessary”.
Notwithstanding this, he stressed that sanitary conditions are decisive, but given these conditions, one would hope that they will assume the leadership of taking serious measures that collaborate with the development of citizenship.
