A new health official he lost his life as a result of COVID-19, as reported this Thursday by National Confederation of Municipal Health Officials (Confusam).
Is about Juan Orellana Correa, 52, who worked as a driver in the commune of Padre Hurtado.
In this way, and according to the figures managed by the entity, he is the fifteenth primary care official to lose his life during the pandemic.
According to Gabriela Flores, president of Confusam, this death “once again shakes those who are risking their own lives to contain this pandemic, saving other lives.”
“Juan was married and had two daughters, here is a devastated family and a health team still in shock, since this unfortunate event takes away a friend and shows them that death is one step away,” he said.
In that sense, he questioned the health authorities given the number of officials who have died as a result of covid-19
“The ministry is putting all the emphasis on arguing with other actors while workers continue to wait for real gestures from the Government,” he criticized.
“We demand the change of the regulation that does not include quality personal protection for support officials such as Juan and thousands of others who, like him, do not have the protection from authority,” he claimed.
“Of the fifteen Primary Care workers who died from Covid, most have not been from the clinical area, therefore the municipality has not been obliged to provide them with quality protection,” Flores said.
