Eight months after Jorge Rubio’s departure from office, the President Sebastián Piñera appointed this Wednesday a new national director for the Legal Medical Service (SML), reported the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
It’s about the doctor Juan Pedro Aros, who was selected after a Senior Public Management contest and will formally assume his functions next Monday September 28.
Aros is a surgeon at the University of Chile and a former medical deputy director at the Santiago Neurosurgery Institute, the Ministry of Justice noted.
Among his studies, his training at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital of the Autonomous University of Madrid in Spain and a specialization at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) of Harvard University stand out.
Last January, the Minister of Justice requested the resignation of the then national director of the SML, Jorge Rubio, leaving the deputy director of the institution as deputy director Gabriel Zamora.
The request was framed, according to the portfolio at the time, in the process of modernization of the organization started at the beginning of the year.
