The Seremi de Salud del Bío Bío reported a Covid-19 outbreak in the Long-stay Establishment for the Elderly (Eleam) Los Sabinos 1, from Chiguayante, where 36 cases were detected.

It involves 22 residents and 14 officials, for which the authority initiated a health summary, in addition to continuing with the epidemiological investigation to determine how this coronavirus contagion originated.

The mayor of Chiguayante, Antonio Rivas, regretted this situation and pointed out that the initial contact would have been a worker to whom the PCR was applied, testing positive for covid-19.


Who also referred to this outbreak and the situation of the elderly, was the Minister of Health, Héctor Muñoz.

Due to the cases of covid-19 that were detected in Eleam Los Sabinos 1 in Chiguayante, the health authority keep 16 older adults in that facility, with personnel and separate areas for infected, in addition to close contacts. While another 10 people will be transferred to the Espejo Residence.
