The health authority reported on Wednesday the communes that advanced to the Transition phase in the Metropolitan region starting this Monday at 5:00 a.m., leaving only two in quarantine.
After months of confinement, they managed to advance to phase 2 of the Paso a Paso plan Puente Alto, Quinta Normal, La Pintana, Lo Prado, Cerro Navia, Buin, Conchalí and Lo Espejo; while Renca and Paine have not yet managed to improve their indicators.
This Monday, when they advance to Transition, they will fulfill 172 days since the inhabitants of Puente Alto saw their freedom of movement restricted, after the measure was decreed in the western zone on April 9.
The long period in confinement caused several to lower their guard on sanitary measures and people to take to the streets in contravention of the restriction.
“The Puente Alto commune has a clear differentiation from the socio-economic point of view, work capacity and travel. It is a giant commune, with a very large number of inhabitants “, highlighted the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris.
“We met with the mayor (Germán Codina) about two weeks ago, (…) we must recognize he has done a great job, together with his health and municipal team and they have managed to lower the figures in the last 7 days to – 26.1% of cases and in the last 14 days -30.5% of cases, therefore they have managed to surpass a very important goal ”, he added.
Similarly, they managed to lower the incidence of cases. “Puente Alto made a great effort and I know that they will continue working on that and have managed to advance to Transition. Remember that the quarantine persists over the weekend, ”he emphasized.
The communes that do not advance
The health authority indicated that communes like Renca still have a very high incidence rate, over 177.
“Although they have managed to reduce their number of cases in the last 7 days by -18%, in the last 14 days they had unfortunately increased by + 23%,” he explained.
Paris indicated that they are making a great effort, so he believes that they will advance in the plan.
