Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic (1st ATP ranking) won the title of the 1000 Masters in Rome this Monday, after beating the Argentine in straight sets in the final Diego Schwartzman (15th), and thus reached for the fifth time the title of the contest that takes place in the Foro Italico.
The victory for the Balkan came after one hour and 54 minutes of the game, by partials of 7-5 and 6-3.
Djokovic quickly freed himself from the pressure to start losing 3-0 the first round, recovering two breaks and hitting four straight games to get ahead. Although the trans-Andean slowed down his reaction, he ended up giving in to the momentum of the world number one.
The second set was much more comfortable for “Nole”, increasing the intensity of their blows vertically and thus he was able to make his way to stay definitively with the meeting.
Thanks to the victory, Djokovic added his fourth title of the season and he extended his streak to 31 wins and only one loss this season.
Also, the Belgrade born surpassed Rafael Nadal as the player with the most titles in Masters 1,000 on reaching 36 crowns, one more than the Spanish and seven more than Roger Federer (28).
