A different ceremony will hold the Emmy Awards this Sunday due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Starting off, Jimmy Kimmel will animate the ceremony that awards the best of American television from the gigantic Staples Center in Los Angeles, practically empty.
Some category presenters will accompany you on stage, such as HER who will sing at the In Memorian, but they will be a minority. Camera crews will follow 138 stars in 114 different locations around 10 countries, a challenge for these ceremonies that are broadcast live.
Without a red carpet, the production told the nominees: “Come as you want, but make an effort,” according to a letter published by the specialized magazine Variety. “If you want to be in formal wear, we’d love to, but equally if you’re in the UK and it’s 3am, you might want to be in designer pajamas and shoot from your bed!”
Anyway, the 2020 edition of the Emmys will give a compulsory, and for many necessary, shake to the format of awards ceremonies that each year lose more audience.
