The Communist Party of Chile referred this Saturday to the UN report released last Wednesday, in which it links Maduro and his government with crimes against humanity.
Through a public statement, the political store “rejects, denounces and warns about the escalation of communication, diplomacy and pressure” that the United States has promoted – “of which the Chilean government is part” – to destabilize, discredit and intervene ”for the upcoming election process in that country.
“We believe that the next parliamentary elections on December 6 of this year in Venezuela offer an opportunity for a solution through popular and democratic decision,” they point out.
Along these lines, they point out that “the international community must respect and encourage this process, in which Venezuelans themselves, without the interference of foreign interests, will be able to decide their future.”
Likewise, the PC “rejects the double discourse of those in Chile who try to present themselves as human rights defenders and say nothing about the repression known to all, in our own country, resulting in deaths and serious disabling injuries.”
“Or those,” adds the letter, “who acted as accomplices and cover-ups for the crimes committed by the dictatorship and who intend to take advantage of the” Report “to raise their flagging campaign for the rejection of a New Constitution, through a hateful and lying communication campaign” .
“The Communist Party of Chile will not lend itself to a new international escalation against Venezuela, promoted from the US,” concludes the statement that you can review in full here.
